Hair cream the need of the hour

Hair damage is more than just split ends. Extremely damaged hair develops cracks in the outside layer (cuticle). Once the cuticle lifts (opens), your hair is at risk for further damage and breakage. It may also look dull or frizzy and be difficult to manage.

So can you really go from dry, brittle hair to smooth, shiny locks? The answer isn’t always cut and dried. For the most part, hair damage is permanent because hair is actually a collection of dead cells, making them beyond repair.

The only real cure is time, a pair of shears, taking steps to prevent new damage like being consistent with hair cream application and using natural projects.

But don’t despair, with proper hair cream application and a few precautionary measures, you can help restore the outer cuticle and begin to improve the look and feel of your hair.  Let’s see what composition of ingredients is not good for your hair cream.

Sulfates

Sulfates are surfactants (surface acting agents) that are used to clean the dirt and excess sebum on the scalp. They are used for lathering purposes in your hair products like hair cream and shampoos. These surfactants like SLS (sodium lauryl sulfate), SLES (sodium laureth sulfate) and ammonium lauryl sulfate are all damaging.

They can cause an allergic reaction on your scalp and may even cause frizzy hair. Besides, they can be hormone disruptors when used for prolonged periods. Sulfates are also harmful for the environment and aquatic species.

Parabens

To increase the shelf life of hair care products, manufacturers add preservatives called parabens. They prevent bacteria from growing in your hair cream. Parabens (Butyl, propyl and ethyl parabens) are known to mimic the function of hormone estrogen (female hormone responsible for reproductive functions) and can increase the risk of breast cancer.
